At Grove House, our Religion and worldviews scheme of work aims to inspire pupils to become curious, reflective and open-minded thinkers. The intention is for pupils to develop the confidence to ask meaningful questions, explore a range of beliefs and worldviews and reflect on their own values and those of others.
Our R&W curriculum aims to raise awareness of how religion and worldviews influence individual lives, communities and cultures over time. The goal is to encourage pupils to become respectful and thoughtful citizens who can engage with diversity and contribute positively to a diverse society.
The Religion and Worldviews curriculum is inquiry led with a strong focus on children asking and answering questions to develop a deep understanding of their own belief system and that of others.
In Early Years, Religious Education woven into Personal, Social, Emotional Development and Understanding the World, focusing on exploring similarities and differences in beliefs, cultures, and traditions through stories, songs, festivals, celebrations and special places, fostering respect, empathy, and curiosity about the world and different ‘worldviews’ (religions and non-religious beliefs).
In Key Stage 1, children will begin to develop an understanding of God and how the world began according to different religions as well as developing the skills to show understanding and respect towards people who have beliefs which differ to their own.
In Key Stage 2, children will delve deeper into their understanding of religion and begin making connections between different religions and worldviews. Children will further develop the skills to discuss their own religions, values and beliefs, listen respectfully to others and ask questions to further their understanding.
Each year group will have the opportunity to visit a place of worship linked to an area of their learning.
